2 Magical Nights with The Philippine Madrigal Singers

10:47 PM
Watching choral concerts will always be a delightful experience as they render songs that can be breathtaking and can make you feel like having goosebumps.

Fortunately, last March 4 and 5, I was able to watch the Philippines' premier choir group "The Philippine Madrigal Singers." It's a 2 night concert for their 50th Anniversary as a group. It's their way to say "Thank You" for those who've supported them during their tours worldwide.

They have won several awards including the European Grand Prix 2007 where they won 1st Prize, bested out the other choir groups who joined the competition. One of their songs that I loved most was "Riveder Le Stelle."

Last March 4, 2013, they had their 1st night of concert at SM City Davao - Annex. Together with the local Davao choir groups, they performed songs together with The Philippine Madrigal Singers or Madz.
Here are the choir groups who participated in the concert last March 4.

Ateneo Carillon Glee Club

St. Joseph Choir

St. Mary's College of Tagum Choir

USEP Polifonico Harmonica Chorale

The last group to perform was The Philippine Madrigal Singers.
They performed songs such as Isang Dugo, Isang Lahi, One Voice, etc.

After their 1st night performance at SM City Davao - Annex, Last March 5, they performed another concert and this time, it was at SM Lanang Premier. Unlike the 1st night, it's their full concert with their trademark semi-circle arrangement where they would just sit down and sing songs that can captivate our hearts and be touched with their renditions of their popular choral pieces.

The 2nd night of concert was filled with invited guests, media and bloggers. It's a night that I will remember forever as they sang some of the songs which are familiar to me such as Cebuano Medley, Kaisa-Isa Niyan, Now That I Have You, Circle of Life and Imagine. There are some songs that I knew but I just don't know the title (Sigh).

I just can't forget how memorable the night was. Their concert was filled with laughter and I was literally amazed to hear them live. It really has a big difference hearing them sing in a concert.

A standing ovation. Well deserved.
After their last song, because the audience loved the performance, we asked for "more!" and because I loved their performance I was with the audience asking for "more!" :D Luckily, The Madz were generous enough to perform another song entitled "Circle of Life." It was so amazing that after the last note, the audience gave them a well deserved standing ovation!

After the Circle of Life, the audience asked again for "more!" and again, the generosity of The Madz was limitless, they performed another song entitled "Imagine" by John Lennon. And again, a standing ovation from the audience!

Hearing The Philippine Madrigal Singers live and fresh was one of the concerts that I will cherish. I can truly say that they're the premier choir group here in the Philippines. When asked which choir can represent Philippines, I can proudly say, The Philippine Madrigal Singers! (A standing ovation from me! :D)

Thanks to Miss Apple of SM for inviting us with the 2-night concert of the Philippine Madrigal Singers. It is indeed a splendid 2-night concert! :D
